You will never be left with free time a farm. From the dawn till dusk, there are endless tasks that need to be carried out. Some are routine farm tasks and some are seasonal that need to be done at a specific time or a lot of things can be overturned. If by the end of the daywe complain that our physical capabilities have been used to their maximum, the exhaustion gets paid off by the satisfaction of receiving the results of our work. And the real happiness we get from living a real life close to nature. Stress levels in the farm are limited. It stress ever appears, it quickly disappears by enjoying our rich organic home-made food and by having a couple of glasses of our spicy home made wine!
Home bred animals
Even though the farm is identified mainly by its crops and cultivation, the first place in our space and in our hearts gets taken by our animals! Each one has its own name and individual character! Every day we feed and water them with much love and in return they give us healthy and nutritious produce which we consume.
Apart from feeding and watering them, every day we move them to their pasture & clean their stables. From the hen houses we collect the day’s eggs and from sheep and goats we collect milk daily.
Crops
All crops are seasonal. The orderly process of cultivation is so natural that cannot help but reminding us that time passes smoothly, normally and unhurriedly. As each season comes to an end, a new one follows, making our crop duties replace each other naturally
The cultivation of our crops includes various tasks such as tillage, semination, planting, watering, spraying, trimming and of course picking up the various vegetables, fruit and herbs.
Our olive trees demand the most intense year round care by us, to produce their oil in the winter. The vine yards require spraying and clearing from dry leaves to reach from spring until the start of the summer. We then reach harvest in September, which is a celebration in itself.
We grow vegetables throughout the year. In the summer all our vegetables require intense watering, which is an exhausting process in the heat. But then we collect the results and taste them & forget the intensity of the heat and workload we had to do for them. We produce corn, cereal and cowgrass for all our animals.
Our specific works are explained in greater detail at the Farm Calendar.
